In Uganda, A-Level refers to the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE), awarded after completing two years of upper secondary school. It is equivalent to the GCE A-Level in the United Kingdom.
A-Level education builds on the foundation set at O-Level, allowing students to specialize in specific subject combinations based on their career aspirations and academic interests.
A-Level in Uganda begins at Senior Five (S5), equivalent to 11th Grade internationally. Students typically enter S5 after successfully completing their Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) exams at O-Level. This year focuses on advanced study and subject specialization.
Senior Six (S6), equivalent to 12th Grade, is the final year of A-Level. It involves intensive preparation for the UACE exams, which determine eligibility for university education, higher institutions, or professional programs.
